Poppy Festival of Remembrance

Clopton Church will be holding a Poppy Festival over four days to commemorate the centenary of Armistice day.

The church will be open between 10am and 4pm from Thursday 8th November to Sunday 11th November.  Refreshments and beautiful hand-crafted poppies will be available with all profits going to the Royal British Legion.

The church will be decorated with over 1000 poppies, created by local residents, and there will be exhibits, displays and items from the time to illustrate aspects of WW1.

The display is to commemorate, especially, the fifteen young men lost from Clopton and their empty places will be marked in the church.

On Thursday 8th November at 11 am,  Lt Commander Robert Becker of the Royal Navy will be laying a marker on the grave of Noah Smy in Clopton Church graveyard and observing a one-minute silence.

You are very welcome to come along and attend this short ceremony.

On Sunday, 11th, there will be a short memorial service at 10.50am followed by a one-minute silence at 11.00am. This will be followed by refreshments, live music played by Peter Day and a war-time sing-a-long.

Please come along! Parking will be available on the church grounds.
