Ash Die-back Disease - Chalara Fraxinea
The import of ash trees from Europe and movement within the UK has now been banned due to the spread of Chalara Fraxinea (ash die-back disease), but FERA are asking that land-owners and members of the public keep a look-out for signs of the disease on their trees.
FERA have uploaded a short film to You-tube to help with identifying the disease - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1GpufLkBto&feature=plcp (or put chalara fraxinia in the search box).
There is also an App. that you can download from http://www.ashtag.org/ which gives you pictures of typical disease symptoms and allows you to report any sightings at the same time. ASHTAG also has a link to a FERA document consisting of good colour photos of disease symptoms. The FERA website can be found at http://www.fera.defra.gov.uk/index.cfm
